Nepean Midget AAA holds on for 3-2 win against Ottawa Midget AAA

The Ottawa Midget AAA Senators tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Nepean Midget AAA Raiders held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Matt Arial put Nepean Midget AAA up 3-1 in the third period, but Ottawa Midget AAA pulled to within one on Cameron Scrivens‘s tally 17:33 into the third period.

JJ Boucher was all over the ice for the Raiders, as he registered two goals in the win. Boucher scored on the power play at 2:24 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Nepean Midget AAA and again while 4:39 into the third to make the score 2-0 Nepean Midget AAA.

Nepean Midget AAA kept the Senators’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Cedrick Andree made 30 saves on 33 shots. The defensemen of the Raiders were also effective in Ottawa Midget AAA’s zone, and came away with two goals. Nepean Midget AAA could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Other players who recorded assists for Nepean Midget AAA were Geoff Dempster, who had two and Paul Larabie, Mackenzie White, Shawn Timlin, and Ryan Kaufman, who contributed one each.

The Senators were helped by Marcus Stepto, who finished with one goal. Stepto scored 9:36 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Nepean Midget AAA. Merrick Rippon assisted on the tally. In addition, Ottawa Midget AAA received assists from Tyler Newell and Alderic Denis, who each chipped in one.

Anand Oberoi made 25 saves for the Raiders on 27 shots. Nepean Midget AAA registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Ottawa Midget AAA incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
