OHA U18 Midget AAA falls to Gloucester Midget AAA in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Gloucester Midget AAA Rangers’ Harry Sanders scored 2:14 into overtime to beat the OHA U18 Midget AAA OHA U17, 4-3 (OT).

Gloucester Midget AAA came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Rangers trailed 3-1 after a short handed goal by OHA U18 Midget AAA’s Dylan Stacey at 10:39 in the third period. Gloucester Midget AAA knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Sanders at 18:21 in the third period.

The Rangers got the win on the strength of a great game by Sanders, who had two goals and one assist.

Gloucester Midget AAA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the OHA U17 to score on any of their seven power plays. The Rangers forced OHA U18 Midget AAA goalie Francis Asselin to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Gloucester Midget AAA could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Gloucester Midget AAA also had goals scored by Jacob Leguerrier and Sam Paquette, who scored one goal each. In addition, Gloucester Midget AAA received assists from Samuel Labre, Cameron Sinclair, Neil Gummeson, Marc Brosseau, and Matt Mullin, who each chipped in one.

The OHA U17’s offense rang up 36 shots on the Rangers’ net.

Others who scored for OHA U18 Midget AAA included Josh Kim and Thomas Chaulk, who each put in one. More assists for OHA U18 Midget AAA came via Julien Allard, Brad Jenion, Justin Poirier, and Craig Garrigan, who contributed one each.

Brent Pledge-Dickson rejected 33 shots on goal for Gloucester Midget AAA. The Rangers registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Francis Asselin made 30 saves for OHA U18 Midget AAA on 34 shots. The OHA U17 incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
