Kanata Midget AAA downs Ottawa Midget AAA, 6-3

The Kanata Midget AAA Lasers beat the Ottawa Midget AAA Senators, 6-3.

Kanata Midget AAA forced Ottawa Midget AAA’s goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 41 shots and forcing 35 saves. Nicolas Rousseau made 35 stops and Cedrick Andree made zero. The defensemen of the Lasers were also effective in the Senators’ zone, and came away with two goals.

Kanata Midget AAA was helped by Cade Townend, who registered one goal. Townend scored 9:18 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kanata Midget AAA. Felix Tourigny assisted on the tally. Kanata Midget AAA also got points from Daniel McIntyre, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Kanata Midget AAA included Adam Church, who had two and Nathan MacKechnie and Kyle Lefebvre, who scored one goal each. In addition, Kanata Midget AAA received assists from Bennett Stockdale and Ty Gauthier, who contributed one each and Luca Nocita and Mack Miller, who each chipped in two.

Ottawa Midget AAA found itself short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

The Senators were helped by Tyler Newell, who tallied one goal. Newell scored on the power play 19:06 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Kanata Midget AAA. Ottawa Midget AAA had taken the advantage when the Lasers’ Stockdale got sent off for charging. Nicholas Raponi de Roia provided the assist. Ottawa Midget AAA also had goals scored by Jean-Sylvain Boyer and Griffin McGregor, who each put in one. More assists for Ottawa Midget AAA came via Jacob Lamont, Alderic Denis, and Marcus Stepto, who contributed one each.

Jean-Philippe Tourigny rejected 16 shots on goal for Kanata Midget AAA. The Lasers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Senators registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
