Hawkesbury Midget AAA uses early goal to top OHA U18 Midget AAA, 3-1

Martin Lavigne scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Hawkesbury Midget AAA Hawks held off the challenges of the OHA U18 Midget AAA OHA U17 in a tough 3-1 win.

Hawkesbury Midget AAA took over the lead for good with a goal by Lavigne at 11:17 in the first period. A head contact penalty on Josh Kim had put the Hawks on the power play. Nathan Sauve picked up the assist.

Hawkesbury Midget AAA was led by goalie Connor Morris, who finished with 36 saves while allowing one goal. Morris certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.37 entering the contest.

The Hawks were led by Andrew Koudsey-Black, who grabbed one goal. Koudsey-Black scored on the power play 1:16 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Hawkesbury Midget AAA. Tyler Boivin assisted on the tally.

Hawkesbury Midget AAA stifled OHA U18 Midget AAA’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Adam Levesque also scored for Hawkesbury Midget AAA. More assists for Hawkesbury Midget AAA came via Brett Romain and Cameron Buck, who contributed one each.

The Hawks were unable to stop the OHA U17 from sending pucks towards the net, and OHA U18 Midget AAA eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The OHA U17 could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

OHA U18 Midget AAA was led by Jon Vandermolen, who scored the team’s only goal. Vandermolen scored 12:18 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury Midget AAA. Heath Ford picked up the assist.

Hawkesbury Midget AAA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Danick Francoeur recorded 22 saves for the OHA U17. OHA U18 Midget AAA registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
