The Cumberland Midget AAA Grads tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the CIHA White Midget AAA White held on for a 3-2 victory.
A goal by Pavel Gogolev put CIHA White Midget AAA up 3-1 in the second period, but Cumberland Midget AAA pulled to within one on Mathieu Plante‘s tally 4:13 into the third period.
The White got the win behind a great game by Gogolev, who had one goal and two assists. Gogolev scored 11:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 CIHA White Midget AAA. Etienne Agius-Pease assisted on the tally.
CIHA White Midget AAA also had goals scored by Seva Losev and Semen Der-Arguchintsev, who scored one goal each.
The Grads forced CIHA White Midget AAA goalie Olivier Pimpare-Charbonneau to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.
Cumberland Midget AAA was helped by Alex Wall, who finished with one goal. Wall scored 25 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland Midget AAA. Liam Peyton provided the assist. In addition, Cumberland Midget AAA received assists from Roman Cannell, who had one and Wil Murray, who had two.
Olivier Pimpare-Charbonneau made 38 saves for the White on 40 shots. CIHA White Midget AAA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Grads’ Seth Carter stopped 16 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Cumberland Midget AAA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
