Linden Spencer scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the CIHA Green Midget AAA Green held off the challenges of the Brockville Midget AAA Braves in a tough 3-1 win.
A goal 1:36 into the first period by Spencer proved to be the game winner, and powered CIHA Green Midget AAA to the victory. Tyler Grill picked up the assist.
The Green were led by Grill, who racked up one goal and one assist. Grill scored 6:01 into the second period to make the score 2-0 CIHA Green Midget AAA. Steve Quint assisted on the tally.
Brockville Midget AAA’s defense shut down CIHA Green Midget AAA’s forwards for much of the game, and the Green got off only 13 shots during the contest.
Matthew Grouchy also scored for CIHA Green Midget AAA.
The Braves excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.
Brockville Midget AAA was led by Serron Noel, who scored the team’s only goal. Noel scored 3:21 into the third period to make the score 2-1 CIHA Green Midget AAA.
Zachary Kott rejected 24 shots on goal for CIHA Green Midget AAA. The Green incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Kyle Herbison recorded 10 saves for the Braves. Brockville Midget AAA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
