Late goal helps the Hawks defeat the Lumber Kings 4-3

David Jankowski scored the game winning goal late in the game as the Hawkesbury Hawks defeat the the Pembroke Lumber Kings 4-3 in a home game at Pembroke Memorial Centre (PMC) in Hawkesbury. As well, Matthew Petizian came up big, stopping 31 of 34 shots throughout the game.

Matt Gasuik had a busy night with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists). Matthew Barnaby did his part, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

During the first, Taillon opened the scoring for the Hawks with a goal at 7:03 with helpers from his linemates, Gasuik and Beaudin-Tougas. Barnaby answered for Pembroke with a goal at 12:09 with helpers from his linemates, Browne and Cross. Warnholtz quickly followed with a goal at 14:09 with assists from his linemates, Barnaby and Arseneau.

In the second, Beaudin-Tougas answered for the Hawks with a goal at 19:07 with an assist from his teammate Gasuik.

In the third period, Falivena answered for the Lumber Kings with a goal at 3:32 with a helper from defenseman Vroman. Gasuik answered for Hawkesbury with a goal at 14:24 with helpers from Beaudin-Tougas and Nantais. Jankowski netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 19:18 with assists from his linemates, Beaudin-Tougas and Smith.

The Hawks’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Petizian’s big night as he stopped 31 of the 34 shots he faced. Petizian’s counterpart, Smith, also had a big night, managing to stop 36 of 40, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Hawkesbury Hawks’ record to (20-9-0-1).
