Hawkesbury make a deal to bring home former head coach’s son, Jaxon Camp

General Manager and Head Coach Rick Dorval was busy over the past couple of days to reach his ultimate goal of acquiring defenseman Jaxon Camp from the Burlington COugars of the OJHL.

First, he traded defenseman Jean-Mathieu Lavoie to the Maritimes in exchange for Ben Vagra and a PDF.  He then flipped both Varga and the PDF to Burlington for Camp.

Camp is a rock solid defenceman with a huge offensive upside. In 51 games last season, Camp amassed 25 pts (10G – 15A), leading all Cougars’ defenceman in points, and raking 6th on the entire team.

Jaxon is the son of former Hawks’ head coach Shawn Camp. Shawn served as Hawkesbury’s bench boss for 2 seasons, from 1998-2000. He is currently the head coach of the University of Guelph’s Men’s Hockey Team.

Welcome to the Flock,  Jaxon!
