Former NCJHL Coach Of The Year Joins Hawks Bench

Experience at the Junior hockey level is essence. With that in mind, the Hawks have completed the coaching staff with the hiring of former 2015 NCJHL Coach of the Year Marc Berniqué as assistant coach.

A native of Vankleek Hill, Ontario, Berniqué played for Hawkesbury as a 17 year old in 1987, before playing 2 seasons in Alexandria with the Glen’s (Jr B) and rounding out his junior career with the Casselman Vikings and Vankleek Hill Cougars.

As a coach, Marc served as assistant coach for the Cougars in 1996-1997, before taking a break from hockey. He reemerged in 2011 as the head coach in Vankleek Hill, before serving as assistant coach with Alexandria in 2012-2013.

He returned to the Cougars in 2013-2014, where he remained their head coach for the next 4 seasons, winning Coach of the Year honours along the way.

A defenseman, the Hawks are counting on Marc experience both on and off the ice will help further develop their D-core to their fullest potential.

Welcome to the Hawks family, Marc.
